Welcome to this presentation of the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology.

You have been sent this video because either your management is considering offering a course in Getting Things Done, or they want you to have enough information to make you want to sign up.

Do you sometimes feel stressed about everything you have to do? Do you find it difficult to focus on a task because everything that isn’t finished is calling out to you? Do you sometimes forget your commitments and the things you have taken on?

Do you worry about things you are responsible for? Do you procrastinate, i.e., put things off? Are you someone who says yes and then ends up regretting it because you actually have too much to do? Do you think that something will only take an hour to do, but then it ends up taking three?

Do you feel guilty about everything you don’t do—that you know you should do? Do you feel that lists help you?

  • Do you get stressed?
  • Do you find it difficult to focus?
  • Do you forget things
  • Do you worry?
  • Do you procrastinate
  • Are you a YES person
  • Are you a time optimist?
  • Do you feel a little guilty?
  • Do you like making lists?

If you check off one or more of these things, you will benefit from participating in the course.

First and foremost, what is Getting Things Done® or GTD as it is also called? GTD is a productivity methodology developed by David Allen. The methodology is based on common sense and has helped millions of people around the world to become more efficient and productive.

GTD will give you tools and techniques to gather all your tasks and ideas in one place, so you can free your mind from having to remember everything that needs to be done. Instead, you can use your energy to be creative and solve problems and actually get things done.

You’ll have a system you can trust that will help you get the most important things done.

Now you may be thinking, «Why do I need to learn this when I already have my own way of working?» Well, let me tell you that GTD differs from other methods by focusing on getting a clear overview of all your tasks and organizing them in a way that allows you to prioritize and perform them more efficiently.

The method helps you get all the things you need to do out of your head and into a structure. Then you will learn to clarify and decide what to do with that thing, if anything.

Thinking through and reflecting a little on whether something actually needs to be done is something that many people skip. As a result, they may end up doing a lot of things that are neither important nor urgent. And you are quickly driven by what comes in last or shouts the loudest.

The results of your decisions are parked either in your calendar or in a set of lists, which we call Next Actions.

Then you review everything regularly, and at least once a week thoroughly, to maintain an overview. That way, you will get as much of the right things done as possible.

The methodology has been developed over 30 years, so you can be sure that nothing is left to chance!

By learning GTD, you will learn to identify what is important and what can be postponed or delegated. This will help you to be more effective in your job, and you will be able to use your time more productively.

So, why should you take a GTD course? Because it will help you to:

  • Reduce stress
  • Make it easier to focus
  • Forget less
  • Worry less
  • Procrastinate less
  • Help you say no to the right things
  • Give you a more realistic picture of how you use your time
  • Reduce guilt

For the leadership, GTD will also help increase productivity and reduce stress levels for all employees, which can lead to better results and greater job satisfaction. This in turn will contribute to less turnover and happier employees who perform better and make fewer mistakes.

Thank you for your attention—I hope to see you at the course!
